Terms & Conditions

Female Founders Surrey CIC · Last updated: 12 September 2026

1. Who we are

This website, femalefounderssurrey.com, is run by Female Founders Surrey CIC ("FFS", "we", "us"), a community interest company registered in England & Wales, company number 17295533. By using this site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site — though we'd rather you stayed.

2. What this site is

FFS is a community for women building businesses in and around Surrey. The site provides information about our events and plans, a directory of women-owned businesses ("the Spotlight"), and ways to register your interest and get involved.

3. Events

Upcoming events are listed on this site, and for most of them you book and pay right here. Each event's page states the price, what's included, and any refund arrangements before you book — for paid events those stated arrangements form part of your booking contract. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see your card details. To cancel a place, return to the event's page and verify your email; refunds on paid places follow the arrangements stated on that event's page. Some events are hosted on Meetup or Eventbrite instead — booking there is subject to their terms. We may photograph or film events for community and promotional use — we'll always tell you at the event, and you can opt out on the day.

Booking for more than one person: you can book up to six places in one go. We'll ask for each guest's name and, if they have any, dietary requirements — please make sure they're happy for you to share those with us. A guest's email address is optional; if you give it, we'll use it only to send them the booking details and a reminder, unless they ask us themselves for more. Cancelling a booking cancels every place on it — if you need to drop a single guest, email us.

4. The Spotlight (business directory)

Submitting: Listings are currently free. To be featured, a business should be woman-owned and based in or serving Surrey. By submitting, you confirm the information you provide is accurate, that you're authorised to submit it, and that you own or have the right to use the photo you upload.

Licence: You keep ownership of your content. You grant FFS a non-exclusive licence to display your business name, town, category, description, link and photo on our website, including on a page dedicated to your listing; to include them in that page's metadata so search engines and social networks can show a preview when it's shared; and to reasonably crop or resize the photo for consistent presentation.

Our discretion: All listings are reviewed by a human before publication. We may decline, edit for length or clarity, or remove any listing at any time — including if information turns out to be inaccurate, the business ceases trading, or the listing no longer fits the community's purpose. You can ask us to update or remove your listing at any time via gabi@femalefounderssurrey.com.

Not an endorsement: The Spotlight is a community noticeboard, not a vetting service. A listing does not mean FFS endorses, recommends or guarantees any business, and we're not responsible for the quality of goods or services you buy from a listed business, or for the content of external websites we link to. Do your usual checks — supporting local doesn't mean skipping common sense.

5. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the site: no attempting to access accounts or data that aren't yours, no submitting content that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory or infringes someone else's rights, no scraping members' or businesses' information, and no using the site to spam anyone. We may block access for misuse.

6. Our content

The FFS name, logo, and the content we create for this site belong to us. You're welcome to share links to our pages; please don't copy substantial parts of the site or use our branding without asking first.

7. Liability

We run this site with care but provide it "as is" — we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for losses arising from use of the site, from reliance on information published on it, or from dealings with businesses listed in the Spotlight. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is covered in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top tells you the current version. Questions, complaints, corrections: gabi@femalefounderssurrey.com.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any disputes.
